Here’s how Jessie saved Lana with 15 minutes of caring compassion.
Recently, Jessie followed up on a post that she had seen earlier about a dog looking for its forever home. There was Lana, still waiting at a high-volume animal shelter with low adoption traffic. Jessie knew that many animals don’t make it out alive, so she decided to take action. She reached out to a Rottweiler rescue organization. With a few emails, back and forth, they had the ID number and location of the dog in need. Later that day when Jessie checked in with the animal shelter, they informed her that Lana had been picked up by the rescue organization. Here’s how Jessie summed it up. “All it took for me to do was send a simple message to one person via FB messenger, then an email, phone call, and a LIFE was saved. I did the work from my phone in between running, answering work phone calls, and attending meetings (maybe 15 minutes tops combined). So easy that anyone can do it, and so necessary, because 2 dogs didn’t make it out alive that day.”
Kudos to you Jessie. Maybe there’s a way that many of us can help connect a pet in an animal shelter with a rescue organization. It just takes a few minutes, but saves a life! And beautiful Lana says thanks. Jessie heads EPIC, a nonprofit dedicated to helping animals by Educating People about animals and Inspiring Compassion in how they are treated.
This organization was featured on a TV show ‘Save Our Shelter’, so here’s what they are doing.
Crossroads Campus in Nashville, TN is a second-chance shelter for animals, a pet store, and so much more. We believe in the healing power of human-animal relationships. To that end we have our Caring Connections humane education outreach program in which we partner with local organizations. Humane education focuses on teaching compassion and respect for all living things, with a desire to improve the quality of life for pets and their humans while decreasing dog bites and other unsafe human-dog interactions.
