Pick A Pet Rabbit

Did you ever give or receive a bunny at Easter?  Pick A Pet Rabbit

Each Easter bunnies are popular pets. They are so soft and cuddly. What most adults who give them as presents don’t consider is that a cute bunny will grow into a good sized rabbit. So beware when you pick a pet rabbit, they can live for up to 10 years.

Below are stores that are filled with resources to help you learn more about picking a rabbit as a pet. Also there are children’s books to cuddle and read together with a stuffed animal. Adults will also find stories for them as well as fun gifts to give to the rabbit lover in your life.

Rabbits used to spend most of their time outdoors in a cage. But not today. These very affectionate animals make great house pets. Rabbits can be litter box trained and will love to spend time with you in your home.

While out of their cage, they need to be supervised like you would a small child. Your home needs to be bunny proofed; for example, make sure there are no electric cords or plants that could make them ill for them to chew on. But they do need toys to gnaw on.

They are gentle pets that rarely bite, but can scratch if handled roughly. Rabbits are playful, active, and curious, and need a good variety of toys to keep them occupied, and out of trouble.

Are rabbits the right pet?

As you learn about what it would be like to have a pet rabbit, consider how you’d answer these questions. If you answer ‘yes’ to these questions, then a rabbit is probably not the right pet.

  1. Do I prefer a pet that spends all of its time in a cage and is not underfoot during parts of the day?
  2. Do I have an immaculate organized home, with valuable furnishings which is free of pet fur?
  3. Does anyone in my household have allergies to hay and animal fur?
  4. Do I already have pets in my home such as reptiles and guinea pigs which may cause health problems for one or the other?
  5. Am I unable to commit to a rabbit’s typical lifespan of 7 to 10 years or even longer?
